to the sufferer and the employer?
Some of the Tips and strategies you can implement in the Workplace
How to deal with Memory
Use a timer/watch
with alarms and set it to vibrate or beep at certain intervals during
the day. The vibration/beep should remind you to get back on task and
remain focused.
If you work with a computer on your desk, use your computer to set reminders.
Use your email
and send yourself a message for deadlines, things to do and use projects
planners to help structuring your time so projects are completed on time.
Use a PDA. You will need to discipline yourself to use the PDA by inputting
the data you need to keep you organized.
Ask your supervisor/manager
if you can set up a meeting with them every Monday morning to review the
projects and expectations for the forthcoming week.
How to deal with Hyperactivity
Set your day to
allow for time to stretch, walk around. If your work involves a lot of
sitting then divided the work into chunks, rather than long stretches
sat at a computer or at your desk.
Use your lunch
hour to exercise. Take a walk around the building.
Ask about completing
some of your work at home so that you change your environment, decreasing
your restlessness.
How to deal with your Impulsiveness
Taking on extra work because you impulsively agreed to do it can be devastating.
Talk with your
supervisor or manager and let them know that you may sometimes take on
more than you are able to complete. At the moment it may sound great,
but later, you realize that you have over-extended yourself.
Let your manager
know that you would like time to think about additional projects before
giving them your answer or making a further commitment.
Keep your day structured
to avoid impulsively moving from task to task.
Use a coach, sessions can be held via phone and email, or in person.
Coaching is a method that many people employ to help with any issues relating
to work or social environments.
